We, the resident dog owners and non-dog owners of Peter Cooper Village and Stuyvesant Town request PCV ST OWNER LP/Tishman Speyer PCVST Management, L.L.C. to establish two fenced in, off-leash dog runs where well-behaved canine citizens can exercise in a clean, safe environment without endangering or annoying people or property. To develop a beautiful, well-maintained space open to all dog lovers and friends who are willing to uphold the run's rules and restrictions. To view this dog run as a community project, in partnership with PCV ST OWNER LP/Tishman Speyer PCVST Management, L.L.C., designed to satisfy the needs of resident registered dog-owners and non-dog owners alike.
The basic requirements are:
+ Two dog runs. One in Stuyvesant Town and one in Peter Cooper Village.
+ One quarter acre or more of land surrounded by a four-to six-foot high chain-link fence equipped with a wheelchair accessible double-gated entry to prevent dogs from escaping.
+ Each run will have two sections. One section comprising most of the area with the remainder to be used by small dogs and puppies.
+ A concrete surface with adequate drainage that can be hosed down or power-washed.
+ Cleaning supplies, including covered garbage cans, waste bags and pooper scooper stations.
+ Twice daily waste pickup and disposal.
+ Shade and water for both dogs and owners, along with benches.
+ Signs that specify dog run hours and rules which include text stating that this is a private dog run open only to residents with registered dogs and their guests. The one time registration fee for market-rate tenants shall cover dog run membership.

My retired and disabled parents and our new puppy need this! We are Stuyvesant Town residents of over 30+ years-it's about time we caught up with the rest of the city.

1. Follow through with your promise to be dog friendly
2. Let us have a place to go where people won't be mad at us. It's not the dogs fault!
3. Attract new renters!
4. Safety, Safety, Safety FOR EVERYONE!
xxxxxxxx,
Residents and pets will be safer with our own dogrun!

PCVST is advertised as dog friendly and many market rate tenants were told a dog run was being built. The website stated there were areas exclusively for dogs-now that has changed. We have been lied to and must act.

We moved into PCV in May and were under the impression that there would be designated areas for the dogs. A dog run is necessary here.

Frank Gaffney,
Bravo! I could undestand the reluctance when the rule was first changed. But where's the negative imapact from dogs. Seems to me it would be a nice spot for dog owners to meet and alloow their pets some freedom.

Your leasing representatives and marketing materials said this place is dog-friendly. Don't make us have to defend our dogs to our neighbors when we were the ones deceived.
A.H. Lamborn, 5 PCR
This needs to be done. There are too many complaints about the dogs playing on the grass. As a new tenant paying market rent, I was not informed about the restrictions on my dog, as I was charged 0 to have have him here. Build them please!

Great idea. Good for dogs and people: dogs get to run and play; people get to socialize; landscaping isn't damaged and exercised dogs are calm and quiet in their apartments.

PCST is supposed to be dog-friendly but I can't even count the number of times people have told me that dogs aren't allowed or that give me dirty looks for having two very well behaved and cute dogs.

It would be great to have a dog run in our pcv/st, but is it really neccessary to have a barrier between market rate/ stablized tenants about fees???? and isnt one dog run enough work?? or are we dividing pcv and st too???

Absolutely necessary.

Stuy Town advertised a dog run and never delivered. Instead of these silly amenities, a dog run would keep the dogs in a dedicated area, which would benefit all residents, dog-owners or not.

Why not raise the fences slightly on any of the many play areas, some of which are often virtually empty? Additionally, this should not be limited to 'market rate' tenants.

As long time residents of ST, and the first-time owners of a dog as of this week, we strongly support the dog run. The entire community would benefit from this - dog owners and non dog owners alike. Dogs would be kept away from areas where non-dog-owners don't care to see them. Plus I believe also that there should be dog waste receptables throughout ST and PCV for the disposal of dog waste so that all of the dog waste is not being placed in every garbage can throughout the property.

Most of the dogs play well together and owner's for the most part pick up after their dogs. Still we get harassed by Stuytown Security. How about protecting the hood from vandalism instead of harassing our furry little friends. Dog run needed.

I find it quite absurd that the building allow dogs, took a 0 pet fee when I signed the lease acknowledging that I would bring my dog into the complex, and then proceed to have anti-dog rules like "no dogs on the grass". Where are they supposed to go? Honestly, can we have a sign that says "No nasty anti-dog old people on the sidewalks"? If not, maybe we should take all the signs down and just be nice and allow loveable dogs and crabby old people alike.

Building a dog run will benefit all people and animals. Pets can have designated areas to play freely, people who don't want pets running in undesignated areas will be at peace, and the DOGS will be happy. Please build the dog runs for us now.

what a terrible idea for some small rinky-dink area for dogs in Stuy. Town. If so who will keep the neighbors from fighting with each other because the dogs had a fight in the yard. Who is going to keep it clean ??? How large an area ??? Will there be supervision ???

OK?
OK. Great you did it. Thank you
i signed the petition because there needs to be a dog run but i think it can be simpler than the petition’s requirements… concrete, benches, fence and garbage cans — just like stuyvesant park. it works great there. big and little dogs never have a problem, people bring their own bags, garbage cleared once a day and i don’t believe the grounds get power washed. owners police each other and the rain does the job just fine.

No, of course it is not necessary to have an RS/MR twist on this. It’s just that TS made that $250. rule when they lifted the ban. I personally think that either no one should pay or everyone should pay. If everyone paid then the incentive for TS to make good on their original statement (dog friendly etc) would be more compelling.
I think that probably fewer dog owning residents have PCVST dog permits than the total number of dogs living here. (of course I cannot substantiate that statement because the rental office refuses to divulge how many dog rider they actually have)
Yes, Please let’s create a dog run for PCV/ ST Dog Owners. How may I help? Thank you!
